Teaching and Practice of Dechen MonlamThe Aspirational Prayer to the Realm of Great Bliss, DewachenDechen Monlam was composed by Karma Chakme, the 17th century great mahasiddha. Karma Chakme Rinpoche, who lived at the time of the Tenth Karmapa, was one of the most highly realized and accomplished individuals in scholarship and meditation of the time. In Namthar: The spiritual Biography of Karma Chakme Rinpoche, he told of his close karmic affiliation with the great terton Mingyur Dorje, "Mingyur Dorje and I have had a very close relationship as teacher and student over hundreds of past rebirths." According to Mingyur Dorje, Karma Chakme is an emanation of Chenrezik, non-differentiated from Karmapa Himself. During his time, Karma Chakme was not only the principle scribe and teacher of the Namcho terma revealed by Mingyur Dorje, he was also the author of many quintessential teachings from Palyul Nyingma, such as, Buddhahood in the palm of the Hand and The union of Mahamudra and Atiyoga.His Holyness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche had emphasized both Mahayana and Vajrayana teachings, whereupon urging his disciples to vow for rebirth in Dewachen. Not only had he stressed the importance of Pureland practice to all Vajrayana students, he even advised the Dzogchen practitioners to also practice Dechen Monlam to assure themselves of the ultimate realization. His life experiences were a manifestation of such heart-felt teaching and an inspiration to his followers. HH Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche had also urged his followers to recite the holy name of Amitabha, promised to lead all beings who had completed one million times of recitation to a swift rebirth to Dewachen. He made it a convention to gather around thousands of sangha in his renowned Serta Larong Five-Sciences Buddhist Institute to practice Dechen Monlam every Fall. It has become and maintains as one of the biggest annual events held in the institute. The Venerable Yangthang Rinpoche also advised to disciples who attended his Thousand-Buddha empowerment, he announced that closed to a hundred millions of people in this kalpa have successfully taken rebirth in Dewachen! We should all be aspired and committed to rigorous practice! |

He was one of many great Terton prophesied by Guru Padmasambhava, also the previous incarnation of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche. Green Tara is the mother of all Buddhas and also held as the deity of enlightened activities. Practicing Green Tara will bring about eight common and eight uncommon great accomplishments, totaled 16. The conceivable accomplishments include the wish-fulfilling results in both worldly and Dharma activities. The inconceivable accomplishment is the ultimate realization of the wisdom of emptiness, which is the absolute nature of Green Tara.
